About

As a cultural region with a tremendously long tradition, China has always been a subject of western fantasies, hopes and projections. However: “The imagination and the real reality about China: I think many people are interested in China, but most of the talk about China is from their imagination.“ (Pritzker Award-winner Wang Shu, 2012).

Alice Schmatzberger and Ingrid Fischer-Schreiber thus founded ChinaCultureDesk to contribute to a greater diversity of images of China in encounters with contemporary China. ChinaCultureDesk offers a broad platform for information, communication, project development, and networking between Austria and China. 1. My name is Shiyu, and I am an alumnus of the London School of Economics and Political Science. Currently, I am based in Chengdu, in the southwest region of China, working for a state-owned cultural enterprise. Our organization is dedicated to promoting the internationally recognized Intangible Cultural Heritage of Zigong lanterns, with a mission to bring the enchanting Chinese Lantern Festival to the global stage, as well as promoting an cross-cultural exchange around the world.

We are committed to creating an interactive cultural and consumer experience around the Sichuan Lanterns and the local cultures, and we have successfully hosted lantern festivals in several renowned cities around the world. One of our long-term partners has held annual lantern festivals at Longleat in the UK for several years, which have been featured by the BBC and have become a significant cross-cultural event that locals eagerly anticipate each year. Considering the huge number of visitors in Vienna and the long-lasting friendship between China and Austria, there appears to be a good opportunity for a Chinese cultural event in this city in the future 5 years. Now, we are keen to explore the possibility of collaborating with your esteemed center to discuss the potential of establishing an exciting cross-cultural entertainment project in your city. We believe that such a project would not only yield mutual economic benefits but also enhance the brand impact of Chinese culture and the local culture on a wider scale. Should our operations prove successful, we are hopeful that we can cultivate a carnival in your city that may become an annual lantern-viewing ceremony, attracting guests from neighboring cities to partake in this celebrated festivity.

I also have a proposal where the details of the festival are outlined. But since I could not find you Email, I have to leave a message there.

Thank you very much for considering this. I look forward to the possibility of our collaboration.
